Alternative Energy

At Manhattan Plumbing & Heating
we are committed to the application of products and methods that reduce energy consumption and help create a sustainable future for the earth while ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of our customers.

Geothermal Heating & Cooling uses the relatively constant temperature of the earth to heat and cool homes and businesses with 40% to 70% less energy than conventional systems. While conventional furnaces and boilers burn a fuel to generate heat, geothermal heat pumps use electricity to simply move heat from the earth into buildings, allowing much higher
efficiencies. The most efficient fuel-burning heater can reach efficiencies around 95%, but a geothermal heat pump can move up to 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity needed to power the system, resulting in a practical equivalence of over 400% efficiency. These systems have been praised by the environmental protection agency (EPA) as “the most energy-efficient and environ-mentally sensitive of all space conditioning systems”.

Solar Water Heaters also called solar domestic hot water systems, can be a cost-effective way to generate hot water for your home. They can be used in any climate, and the fuel they use, sunshine, is free.

High Efficiency Boilers can save up to 30% of your heating energy use. Heating equipment is typically the largest energy user in the home. If a natural gas furnace or boiler is more than 20 years old, it is probably running very inefficiently compared to today's models. One way to help offset the rising cost of energy and significantly reduce heating costs is to replace an old furnace or boiler with new high-efficiency heating equipment.

Wood Burning Boilers provide a convenient, safe, and environmentally responsible way to heat your home and hot water with wood. Owners are ensured of unusually high heating efficiency, low heating costs, and use of an abundant, locally available, renewable fuel.

Tankless Water Heaters
reduce energy consumption by up to 40% by heating water only on demand and avoiding standby loss. You’ll enjoy hot water when you want it, for as long as you need it. These water heaters produce very low harmful emissions, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier home and making it an environmentally sound gas appliance.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has made significant changes to homeowner tax credits for specified energy-efficient home improvements. Some of the more significant changes include the extension of the tax credit through 2010 and the increase in the total available tax credit from 10% to 30%. Contact us for more information!
